Poppy is a Electropop and Industrial act. Their catalogue also touches Rock. Their sound grew out of Son Lux, Sleigh Bells, Chinese American Bear, Tommy Genesis and Bambie Thug. Those roots explain a lot about how Poppy arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Bad Omens, WARGASM (UK), Cassyette, Kim Petras and Mothica, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Grimes, Bad Omens and Knocked Loose, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 43 connections around Poppy, reaching back through Son Lux and forward to Grimes.
