Raveena is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Corinne Bailey Rae, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Minnie Riperton. Those roots explain a lot about how Raveena arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hope Tala, Ravyn Lenae, Fana Hues, Amber Mark and Sabrina Claudio, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Lizzo, Awkwafina, Hayley Kiyoko, Toto and Vince Staples, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 56 connections around Raveena, reaching back through Corinne Bailey Rae and forward to Lizzo. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
