Samiyam is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Jeremiah Jae, Jonwayne, Earl Sweatshirt, Knxwledge and Nosaj Thing. Those roots explain a lot about how Samiyam arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ras G, Knxwledge, Elaquent, Flying Lotus and Karriem Riggins, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Danny Brown, Ras G, Earl Sweatshirt, Action Bronson and Jeremiah Jae, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 37 connections around Samiyam, reaching back through Jeremiah Jae and forward to Danny Brown.
