Benga is a Dubstep act. Their sound grew out of Boys Noize, Route 94, Wookie and Magnetic Man. Those roots explain a lot about how Benga arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Skream, Digital Mystikz, Rusko and The Bug, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Katy B, Skream, Dominique Young Unique, DJ Fresh and Donna Summer, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 13 connections around Benga, reaching back through Boys Noize and forward to Katy B.
