Smush is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of feeble little horse, Sonic Youth, Beach House, Slowdive and Ride. Those roots explain a lot about how Smush arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Her New Knife, xela fella, Pure Hex, Slowwves and easterlin, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Roving, la lune, Sleepwalk and Whirr, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 55 connections around Smush, reaching back through feeble little horse and forward to Roving.
