Steve Earle is a Americana and Blues act. Their catalogue also touches Country. Their sound grew out of Lucinda Williams, The Fairfield Four, Corb Lund, Silver and Dave Dudley. Those roots explain a lot about how Steve Earle arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Justin Townes Earle, Lucinda Williams, Rodney Crowell, Jerry Jeff Walker and Whiskeytown, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Parker McCollum, Josh Abbott Band, Curtis Stigers, Middle Kids and David Allan Coe, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 69 connections around Steve Earle, reaching back through Lucinda Williams and forward to Parker McCollum.
