The Herbaliser is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Mr. Scruff, Roots Manuva and Dream Warriors. Those roots explain a lot about how The Herbaliser arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as London Funk Allstars, DJ Vadim, Mr. Scruff, Tosca and Howie B, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Jean Grae, Roots Manuva, MF DOOM, Blade and Bahamadia, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around The Herbaliser, reaching back through Mr. Scruff and forward to Jean Grae.
