The Incredible String Band

Folk
Folk

The Incredible String Band is a Folk act. Their sound grew out of Bert Jansch, Tom Paxton, Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. Those roots explain a lot about how The Incredible String Band arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Fairport Convention, The Pentangle, Bert Jansch, Steeleye Span and Donovan, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Babe Rainbow, Neil Tennant, Jackson Browne, Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 37 connections around The Incredible String Band, reaching back through Bert Jansch and forward to Babe Rainbow. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
