Moby Grape is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of Jefferson Airplane, Mike Bloomfield, Buffalo Springfield, The Warlocks and Strawberry Alarm Clock. Those roots explain a lot about how Moby Grape arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Spirit, The Yardbirds, Traffic, Buffalo Springfield and Kaleidoscope, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Since I've Been Loving You, Earth and Fire, The Grateful Dead, The Idle Race and Flying Saucer Attack, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 39 connections around Moby Grape, reaching back through Jefferson Airplane and forward to Since I've Been Loving You.
