The String Cheese Incident

The String Cheese Incident is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Stanley Jordan, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Talking Heads and Phish. Those roots explain a lot about how The String Cheese Incident arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Jerry Garcia Band, Widespread Panic, Umphrey's McGee, Grateful Dead and Animal Liberation Orchestra, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Skrillex, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Bob Weir, The Motet and Pangaea, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 21 connections around The String Cheese Incident, reaching back through Stanley Jordan and forward to Skrillex. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
