The Temprees is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Charles Pitts and Earth Wind and Fire. Those roots explain a lot about how The Temprees arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Sly, Slick & Wicked, Donnie Elbert, Brenda & The Tabulations, Bloodstone and The Five Stairsteps, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Bar-Kays, The Bar-Kays and As I Am, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 38 connections around The Temprees, reaching back through Charles Pitts and forward to Bar-Kays. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
