Britney Spears is a Dance-pop and Electropop act. Their catalogue also touches Pop and Synth-pop. Their sound grew out of Paul Oakenfold, Armand van Helden, It's Alive, Haruka Nakagawa and Ammo. Those roots explain a lot about how Britney Spears arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Madonna, Christina Aguilera, The Pussycat Dolls, Jennifer Lopez and Kylie Minogue, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Above & Beyond, Startin'/Born to Be..., Government Hooker, Tension II and Bunny Style!, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 306 connections around Britney Spears, reaching back through Paul Oakenfold and forward to Above & Beyond. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
