Voxtrot is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of The Smiths, Spoon and Blur. Those roots explain a lot about how Voxtrot arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Ra Ra Riot, Miniature Tigers, Coconut Records and Mates of State, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Belle and Sebastian and Au Revoir Simone, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 35 connections around Voxtrot, reaching back through The Smiths and forward to Belle and Sebastian. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
