After a long hiatus in the 1980s and 1990s, during which time she left music to be with her family, she made a comeback album as a singer-songwriter in 2004.

Tavares is an American R&B and soul music group composed of five Cape Verdean-American brothers. The duo were successful as songwriters for other artists and had several international hits as a singing duo in the 1980s and 1990s.
