Afro-Cuban All Stars

Afro-Cuban All Stars is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Sierra Maestra and Afrocubism. Those roots explain a lot about how Afro-Cuban All Stars arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Eliades Ochoa, Ibrahim Ferrer, Sierra Maestra, Vieja Trova Santiaguera and Compay Segundo, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Omara Portuondo, Rubén González, Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Segundo and Eliades Ochoa, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 27 connections around Afro-Cuban All Stars, reaching back through Sierra Maestra and forward to Omara Portuondo. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
