Eliades Ochoa

Eliades Ochoa is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Afro-Cuban All Stars, Vieja Trova Santiaguera and Buena Vista Social Club. Those roots explain a lot about how Eliades Ochoa arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Sierra Maestra, Compay Segundo, Afro-Cuban All Stars, Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Bob Dylan, Manu Dibango, Charlie Musselwhite, Jarabe de Palo and Enrique Bunbury, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 27 connections around Eliades Ochoa, reaching back through Afro-Cuban All Stars and forward to Bob Dylan. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
