◇ image via WikipediaSupertramp
Supertramp is a Progressive rock and Rock act. Their sound grew out of David Gilmour, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Alexis Korner, Geoff Emerick and Barclay James Harvest. Those roots explain a lot about how Supertramp arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Genesis, Dire Straits, The Moody Blues, Klaatu and Manfred Mann's Earth Band, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Daniel Balavoine, Little River Band, The Feeling, The Night Flight Orchestra and Jellyfish, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 49 connections around Supertramp, reaching back through David Gilmour and forward to Daniel Balavoine.
