Aṣa is a Afrobeat and Folk act. Their catalogue also touches House and Jazz. Their sound grew out of Féfé, SMC Lähiörotat, Cobhams Asuquo, Tay Iwar and Lauri Porra. Those roots explain a lot about how Aṣa arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Obongjayar, Qing Madi, Mannywellz, Tems and Mélissa Laveaux, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Lady Donli, Cina Soul, Tems and Yannick Noah, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 47 connections around Aṣa, reaching back through Féfé and forward to Lady Donli.
