Canibus is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Organized Konfusion, Lost Boyz, Snowgoons, Killah Priest and Greydon Square. Those roots explain a lot about how Canibus arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Chino XL, Royce da 5'9", Jungle Brothers, Joe Budden and Ras Kass, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Method Man, Redman, DMX, Lowkey and Eminem, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 41 connections around Canibus, reaching back through Organized Konfusion and forward to Method Man. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
