DMX is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Sean Paul, LL Cool J, Bill Withers, Lloyd Banks and Irv Gotti. Those roots explain a lot about how DMX arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as 50 Cent, Ludacris, Ice Cube, G-Unit and Xzibit, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Ludacris, Zero 9:36, Yung Berg, J.I the Prince of N.Y and Rome Fortune, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 86 connections around DMX, reaching back through Sean Paul and forward to Ludacris. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
