Cauby Peixoto is a Bossa nova act. Their sound grew out of Sueli Costa, Supla and Nat King Cole. Those roots explain a lot about how Cauby Peixoto arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Nana Caymmi, Roberto Carlos, João Donato, Erasmo Carlos and Lobão, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Supla, Chico Buarque, Roberto Carlos, Alexandre Pires and Rita Lee, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 19 connections around Cauby Peixoto, reaching back through Sueli Costa and forward to Supla.
