Cock Sparrer is a Punk rock act. Their sound grew out of Lars Frederiksen, The 4-Skins, Small Faces, The Who and The Rolling Stones. Those roots explain a lot about how Cock Sparrer arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Business, The Oppressed, Sham 69, Oxymoron and The Partisans, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Rancid, Böhse Onkelz, Sing Loud, Sing Proud! and Dropkick Murphys, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 22 connections around Cock Sparrer, reaching back through Lars Frederiksen and forward to Rancid.
