Curved Air is a Progressive rock act. Their sound grew out of Galt Macdermot and Spirit. Those roots explain a lot about how Curved Air arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Focus, The Nice, Hatfield and the North, Eloy and Camel, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Sky, Caravan, Stretch, The Police and Colosseum, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around Curved Air, reaching back through Galt Macdermot and forward to Sky.
