Delroy Wilson is a Ska act. Their sound grew out of B.B. Seaton, The Gaylads, Leroy Smart, Val Bennett and Jimmy Riley. Those roots explain a lot about how Delroy Wilson arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Heptones, Lone Ranger, Dennis Brown, Tommy McCook and The Mighty Diamonds, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Keith Hudson, Dr. Alimantado, King Tubby, Black Slate and The Ethiopians, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 52 connections around Delroy Wilson, reaching back through B.B. Seaton and forward to Keith Hudson.
