Devlin is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Yasmin, Diane Birch, Popek, Our Version of Events and Emeli Sandé. Those roots explain a lot about how Devlin arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Lethal Bizzle, Bugzy Malone, Kano, Ghetts and Akala, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Foreign Beggars, Maverick Sabre and Ed Sheeran, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around Devlin, reaching back through Yasmin and forward to Foreign Beggars. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
