Fireboy DML

Afrobeat
AfrobeatContemporary R&B

Fireboy DML is a Afrobeat and Contemporary R&B act. Their sound grew out of Shallipopi, Shenseea, Empire Distribution, Pheelz and Cheque. Those roots explain a lot about how Fireboy DML arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Omah Lay, Asake, Ruger, Olamide and Adekunle Gold, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Justin Timberlake, Lagbaja, Jon Batiste, LadiPOE and Cheque, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 42 connections around Fireboy DML, reaching back through Shallipopi and forward to Justin Timberlake.
