HNNY is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Four Tet, Mariah Carey and Leona Lewis. Those roots explain a lot about how HNNY arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Folamour, Session Victim, Fouk, Leon Vynehall and Crazy P, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Moon Boots, Flight Facilities, Emma Louise and First Aid Kit, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 22 connections around HNNY, reaching back through De La Soul and forward to Moon Boots.
