India is a House act. Their sound grew out of Louie Vega, Madonna, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. Those roots explain a lot about how India arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Marc Anthony, Jerry Rivera, El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico, Frankie Ruiz and Grupo Niche, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Oscar D'León, Marc Anthony, Puff Daddy & The Family, Tito Nieves and Nicky Jam, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 37 connections around India, reaching back through Louie Vega and forward to Oscar D'León.
