Jimmy Somerville is a Synth-pop act. Their sound grew out of You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real), Stephen Hague, The Pasadenas, Jimmy Jones and Bronski Beat. Those roots explain a lot about how Jimmy Somerville arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Bronski Beat, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Eurythmics, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Fine Young Cannibals, Armand van Helden, Mauro Picotto, The Weather Girls and Victory, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 41 connections around Jimmy Somerville, reaching back through You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) and forward to Fine Young Cannibals.
