Ultravox

Synth-pop

Ultravox is a Synth-pop act. Their sound grew out of Visage, Radio-Activity, Another Green World, Suicide and Dare. Those roots explain a lot about how Ultravox arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, ABC, Propaganda, Thompson Twins and Alphaville, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Kim Wilde, Simple Minds, Milk Inc., Camouflage and Magazine, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 53 connections around Ultravox, reaching back through Visage and forward to Kim Wilde. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
