Psychedelic rock

Jorma Kaukonen is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of Washington Phillips, Blind Blake, Rev. Gary Davis, Paul Kantner and Reverend Gary Davis. Those roots explain a lot about how Jorma Kaukonen arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hans Theessink, The Wood Brothers, The Milk Carton Kids, Otis Taylor and David Bromberg, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Jaco Pastorius, If I Could Only Remember My Name, Phil Lesh, Grace Slick and Paul Kantner, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 33 connections around Jorma Kaukonen, reaching back through Washington Phillips and forward to Jaco Pastorius.
