The Wood Brothers

The Wood Brothers is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing), Joan Baez, Jimmy Reed, Lightnin' Hopkins and Sean Costello. Those roots explain a lot about how The Wood Brothers arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Trampled by Turtles, Shakey Graves, Caamp, The Derek Trucks Band and John Craigie, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Medeski, Martin and Wood, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around The Wood Brothers, reaching back through P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) and forward to Medeski, Martin and Wood. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
