Kate Rusby is a Folk act. Their sound grew out of Sarah Jarosz, Iris DeMent, The Kinks, Taylor Swift and Coldplay. Those roots explain a lot about how Kate Rusby arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Steeleye Span, The Wailin' Jennys, Christy Moore, Kirsty MacColl and The Staves, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Ronan Keating, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 19 connections around Kate Rusby, reaching back through Sarah Jarosz and forward to Ronan Keating.
