◇ image via WikipediaThe Kinks
The Kinks is a Garage rock and Rock act. Their sound grew out of Kokomo Arnold, Lazy Lester, Chris Spedding, Little Richard and Manfred Mann. Those roots explain a lot about how The Kinks arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dave Davies, Donovan, The Beach Boys, The Yardbirds and The Beatles, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Oasis, Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Stooges and Cheap Trick, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 157 connections around The Kinks, reaching back through Kokomo Arnold and forward to Oasis. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
