Kurupt is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Snoop Lion, Pete Rock, Terrace Martin, DJ Quik and Jane Handcock. Those roots explain a lot about how Kurupt arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Tha Dogg Pound, Mack 10, Nate Dogg, DJ Quik and Warren G, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Warren G, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Demrick and Andy Mineo, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 51 connections around Kurupt, reaching back through Snoop Lion and forward to Warren G. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
