Ours is a Country act. Their sound grew out of Jeff Buckley, U2, Radiohead, The Cure and Luna Halo. Those roots explain a lot about how Ours arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Our Lady Peace, Stabbing Westward, Sparta, Afghan Whigs and Remy Zero, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Dear Hunter and Moments In Grace, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 36 connections around Ours, reaching back through Jeff Buckley and forward to The Dear Hunter. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Ours is an American rock band formed by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Gnecco. Since the band's formation in 1994, Gnecco has been the sole permanent member with a rotating lineup of supporting musicians. Their music has been described as alternative rock, progressive rock, and art rock. The band's emotionally intense and anthemic approach has drawn comparisons to U2 and Jeff Buckley.
