Pappo is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Freddie King, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters and Eric Clapton. Those roots explain a lot about how Pappo arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Pappo's Blues, Divididos, La Renga, Memphis La Blusera and Ratones Paranoicos, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Miguel Abuelo, Los Abuelos de la Nada and Carajo, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 33 connections around Pappo, reaching back through Freddie King and forward to Miguel Abuelo. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
