Philip Oakey is a Electronic and Synth-pop act. Their sound grew out of Brian Eno and Giorgio Moroder. Those roots explain a lot about how Philip Oakey arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dan Hartman, Climie Fisher, Murray Head, Wang Chung and Wet Wet Wet, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Little Boots, Pet Shop Boys, Jarvis Cocker, Fat White Family and Elizabeth Daily, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 36 connections around Philip Oakey, reaching back through Brian Eno and forward to Little Boots.
