Psychic TV

Techno

Psychic TV is a Techno act. Their sound grew out of Throbbing Gristle, Alternative TV, Monte Cazazza, Soft Cell and The Cult. Those roots explain a lot about how Psychic TV arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Throbbing Gristle, Muslimgauze, Chrome, Nico and The Pop Group, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Cities Aviv, Califone, Grazhdanskaya Oborona, Lydia Lunch and David Tibet, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 23 connections around Psychic TV, reaching back through Throbbing Gristle and forward to Cities Aviv. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
