Skinny Puppy is a Industrial act. Their sound grew out of Nettwerk, SITD, Rhys Fulber, Danny Carey and Duran Duran. Those roots explain a lot about how Skinny Puppy arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ministry, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Machines of Loving Grace, Haujobb and Throbbing Gristle, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Nine Inch Nails, Dope, Murcof, Mick Harris and Klayton, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 34 connections around Skinny Puppy, reaching back through Nettwerk and forward to Nine Inch Nails.
