Rogue Wave is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Buddy Holly, Pixies, Kim Carnes, Nada Surf and Mock Orange. Those roots explain a lot about how Rogue Wave arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ra Ra Riot, Coconut Records, The Long Winters, Pete Yorn and Shout Out Louds, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The Album Leaf, Still Corners and Blitzen Trapper, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 33 connections around Rogue Wave, reaching back through Buddy Holly and forward to The Album Leaf. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
