◇ image via WikipediaRooney
Rooney is a Indie rock act. Their sound grew out of Ozma, Crash Kings, Locksley, Jon Walker and Jellyfish. Those roots explain a lot about how Rooney arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hot Hot Heat, Phantom Planet, The Bravery, Coconut Records and Ra Ra Riot, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into The All-American Rejects, Tally Hall, Crash Kings, The Young Veins and Weezer, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 52 connections around Rooney, reaching back through Ozma and forward to The All-American Rejects.
