◇ image via WikipediaThe Killers
The Killers is a Rap act. Their sound grew out of The Vines, Vertigo Records, Go West, Velociraptor! and Curve. Those roots explain a lot about how The Killers arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Brandon Flowers, Snow Patrol, The Bravery, White Lies and The Airborne Toxic Event, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Vinyl Theatre, Little Boots, Metro Station, Shelby Lynne and Give It 2 Me, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 101 connections around The Killers, reaching back through The Vines and forward to Vinyl Theatre. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
