Samiam is a Hardcore punk act. Their sound grew out of Dinosaur Jr., Black Flag, The Lemonheads, The Replacements and Swervedriver. Those roots explain a lot about how Samiam arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Knapsack, Lifetime, The Jealous Sound, No Use for a Name and Jets to Brazil, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Texas Is the Reason, Braid, The Jealous Sound, Jawbreaker and Donots, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 35 connections around Samiam, reaching back through Dinosaur Jr. and forward to Texas Is the Reason.
