Self Esteem

Punk rock
Punk rock

Self Esteem is a Punk rock act. Their sound grew out of OutKast, Neil Young, Kate Bush, Max Richter and Arctic Monkeys. Those roots explain a lot about how Self Esteem arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Moonchild Sanelly, Kate Nash, Baby Queen, She Drew the Gun and King Princess, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Django Django, Becky Hill, Moonchild Sanelly, Sparks and Noah and the Whale, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 36 connections around Self Esteem, reaching back through OutKast and forward to Django Django. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
