Shaan is a Alternative rock act. Their sound grew out of Melanie C, Blue, Bally Sagoo, Alka Yagnik and Biddu Orchestra. Those roots explain a lot about how Shaan arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Pritam, Shreya Ghoshal, Sukhwinder Singh, Alka Yagnik and Sunidhi Chauhan, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Abhijeet, Sukriti Kakar, Anweshaa, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Ram Sampath, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 46 connections around Shaan, reaching back through Melanie C and forward to Abhijeet.
