Low is a Ambient and Electronic act. Their sound grew out of Radiohead, Mark Kozelek, Swans, Joy Division and The Smiths. Those roots explain a lot about how Low arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Bedhead, Codeine, Bluetile Lounge, Red House Painters and The For Carnation, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Gregor Samsa, Robert Plant, Buddy Miller, Red House Painters and The Magnetic Fields, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 73 connections around Low, reaching back through Radiohead and forward to Gregor Samsa. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
