Slug is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of MC Jin, Dr. Dooom, Kool Keith, Eyedea and Aesop Rock. Those roots explain a lot about how Slug arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Eyedea & Abilities, deM atlaS and The Dynospectrum, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Robb Banks, Eyedea, Robb Bank$ and Eyedea & Abilities, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 38 connections around Slug, reaching back through MC Jin and forward to Robb Banks.
