Stryper is a Heavy metal act. Their sound grew out of Mortification, Boston, Cage, Mötley Crüe and Piece of Mind. Those roots explain a lot about how Stryper arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Deliverance, Dokken, Tesla, Firehouse and Y&T, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Richard Christy, Clint Lowery, Armored Saint, Oficina G3 and Faber Drive, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 32 connections around Stryper, reaching back through Mortification and forward to Richard Christy.
