Whitesnake is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Juicy Lucy, Dio, Don Airey, Martin Birch and Guy Pratt. Those roots explain a lot about how Whitesnake arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as David Coverdale, Deep Purple, Dokken, Europe and Def Leppard, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into A Momentary Lapse of Reason, David Cook, David Draiman, Ari Koivunen and Divlje jagode, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 62 connections around Whitesnake, reaching back through Juicy Lucy and forward to A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
